Our contents cover could get you back on your feet quickly. After all, you've worked hard to get your home and everything in it. So it goes without saying that you'd want to protect it with contents insurance cover. Should the unexpected happen, our contents insurance could get you back on your feet quickly, with the minimum of disruption.

Our contents insurance gives you:

  • 25% off home insurance - when you buy buildings and contents insurance together. Minimum premiums apply. Offer available in your first year only.
  • A choice from 4 levels of high risk item limits - tailor your policy to your needs by choosing the adequate level of cover for your valuables.
  • Choose your own excess - choose a higher excess to make your premium lower.
  • No Claim Discount - you could receive up to 30% discount (if you are new to us) or up to 40% discount (if you are renewing with us).
  • An automatic increase in your contents sum insured around religious events or festivals and family weddings, civil ceremonies or birthdays.
  • Up to £50,000 legal expenses cover included as standard (in association with Co-operative Legal Services Limited).
  • A range of optional extras - for that extra peace of mind that you have the right level of cover should something happen in your home.

Minimum premiums of £111 apply to buildings and contents cover. This means the maximum discounts may not be available in all circumstances.

In order to maintain your cover, the building needs to be furnished and cannot be left unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days.

Eligibility

We cannot offer you an online quote if the property:

  • is not mainly roofed with slates or tiles
  • is not your main residence, e.g. it is a holiday home or rented out to tenants or it is used by paying guests
  • has ever been entered by flood waters
  • has more than 5 bedrooms or is higher than 3 storeys
  • your contents, including your personal possessions are worth more than £100,000
  • is used for business purposes other than office work, childminding or private tuition
  • is a mobile home

However we may still be able to provide you with a quote over the phone by calling our quote line direct.

In addition, we cannot offer you an online quote if:

  • You or anyone living with you have ever been convicted of any criminal offence (other than motoring offences) or has any prosecutions pending
  • you or anyone living with you has been refused insurance or had special conditions imposed
  • you or any of the proposers are under 16 years of age
  • you are not resident in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man

Add Personal Possessions cover

You probably have valuables that you use away from the home – a digital camera, or a cycle perhaps? So it makes sense that these should have cover outside your home as well as in.

There are 2 levels of personal possessions cover:

Unspecified personal possessions include:

  • Personal items including laptops, valuables and clothing normally worn or carried outside the home up to £2,000 per article, pair, set or collection.
  • Money up to £500
  • Fraudulent use of credit cards up to £500
  • Sports equipment up to £1,000 in total
  • Pedal cycles up to £1,000 per cycle
  • Mobile phones up to £250 and up to £25 for lost calls

Specified personal possessions are:

Property listed above which is to be insured for more than £2,000, plus a variety of other specialised articles and equipment.

Add Home Emergency cover for just 12p in your first year

We have teamed up with Axa Assistance to bring you HomeRescue Plus.

You can add Home Emergecy cover with HomeRescue Plus to your policy for just 12p in your first year (Reverts to £24 after your first year).

What does it cover?

Up to £250 (inclusive of VAT) for emergency repairs for:

  • Failure of your boiler, hot water system, central heating system or main heating source
    (Provided the boiler has been serviced in the last 12 months and is not over 15 years old).
  • Failure of the gas or electricity supply within the home
  • Plumbing problems relating to blocked drains, leaking pipes, leaking radiators, water tanks or blocked toilet waste pipes within the home
  • Infestation of the home by brown rats, black rats, house mice, field mice, squirrels and wasps nests or hornets nests.
  • Permanent and irreplaceable loss of all keys required to gain access to the home

Cover does not apply to garages, greenhouses or outbuildings.

Add Accidental Damage cover

For that extra cover for spillages and breakages.

What does it cover?

Our standard Contents insurance provides accidental damage cover to specific items in your home such as TV's, DVD, audio and video equipment, computer equipment (but not portable items such as laptops), and breakage of glass in furniture, mirrors and ceramic in hobs. However if you want to protect your contents against other types of accidental damage e.g. spilling paint on your carpet or furniture or dropping an ornament you will need this optional cover.
