Withdrawing cash

Cash machines (ATMs)

You can use any LINK ATM cash machine to withdraw funds from your account by using your Debit card. Most Co-operative Bank and most LINK machines are free of charge. However, some LINK ATMs in shops, nightclubs, amusement arcades etc. do charge an additional fee for the service. You will be advised of this charge before you make your transaction.

If you use an ATM that is not a LINK machine, or if you use your Visa credit card to obtain cash from any ATM, LINK included, then you will be charged a 3% handling fee on the amount you withdraw, minimum £3.

Search for your nearest LINK machine using the LINK Cash Point Finder.

Branches

You can go into a Branch and withdraw funds using your Debit or Visa card (Visa cash advances subject to a 2% handling charge minimum £2.00). You may be asked for additional identification if you are withdrawing large amounts.

Post Office (Not Visa)

You can use your Bank Debit or ATM with your PIN number to withdraw amounts daily upto to £250.00 over the Post Office counter.

Cashback Facilities

Some shops/supermarkets now allow you to obtain cash at the same time as paying for your goods. This depends if the shop has the facility to offer cashback and their discretion to do so. If the shop does offer this facility they usually ask you if you want cashback before the payment is authorised; alternatively you can ask the cashier for cashback before paying for the item.

Other Banks

If you have a valid debit card and a cheque book you may be able to cash a cheque at another bank up to the value of the cheque guarantee limit shown on the reverse of your debit card. There may be a charge for this service.

You can obtain cash by using your Visa credit card at any bank that displays the Visa logo subject to the Bank's discretion. This cash advance will be subject to a 3% handling charge based on the amount you withdraw, minimum £3.
