Our ethics are your ethics

Our ethical policies have always been based on the concerns of customers; after all, it is your money that we're investing.

We recognise that people's concerns change over time, so with this in mind, we are committed to periodically reviewing our policies and asking customers to vote on them. Since the first customer vote on The Co-operative Bank's Ethical Policy in 1992, we've reviewed the policy three times; in the last customer vote, 97% of customers expressed their support for the policy.

More than 44,000 customers were involved in the launch of the Co-operative Insurance's Ethical Engagement Policy in 2005, and so the Policy reflects their views on how we should use our influence on the companies we invest in.
